2019 Catching Academy
Session 1: Grades 4th - 7th
This clinic will focus on improving basic mechanics of receiving, blocking and throwing.
Instruction will include but is not limited to the following : set-up, framing, blocking mechanics, analysis of throwing motion.
Instruction on developing a quick and efficient transfer from glove to throwing hand.
Drills focusing on throwing mechanics and building arm strength.
Drills designed to develop quickness and proficiency in blocking pitches in the dirt and recovery
Session 2: Grades 8th - 12th/H.S.
This clinic will build upon the foundation of framing, blocking, and receiving with an emphasis on angling, thumb roll and communication with umpires.
Work on blocking will continue to build quickness and proficiency in these movement patterns but add picks in the dirt and reactions to cross-up’s.
Through use of radar, video and Hittrax system athletes will work to lower release times, build arm strength and reduce pop times.
This session will also highlight pick-off footwork, wild pitch retrieval and throws, bunt defense and other elements of positional play.
1:3 or 1:4 coach to player ratio. No more than 12 participants per session. Register Early!

Location: Hall Baseball/Softball Complex located at the corner of 37th St. and Lake Avenue.
Check-in: A half hour preceding each session.
Athletes must bring their own glove and catcher’s gear.
Cost for the academy includes a T-Shirt.
No refunds will be given after the day of the clinic except for the case of inclement weather. Submit all such requests in writing.
